Everything you need to know about Taos Vortex 2019!

When can I check in to Taos Vortex?

You can check into Taos Vortex during the Check-in hours. Check-in hours are as follows: Friday 12PM-12AM, Saturday 12PM-12AM, Sunday 10AM-7PM. Please be sure to arrive during these hours to receive your wristbands, credentials, and initial access to the park!

What are the ID requirements to enter the event?

You must present your ID and ticket barcode from your confirmation email to receive a wristband at on-site check to enter the event. Everyone under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Anyone 13 or older must purchase a full price pass. Children 3-12 qualify for low-price Child Passes. Children under 3 get into Taos Vortex for free.

Can I use a payment plan to buy my Vortex passes?

If I cannot attend last minute, can I give my pass to a friend without changing the name on the pass?

Yes! Anyone who has the ticket can use it so long as it's still valid and/or has not been scanned into the event yet. Simply present your ID and ticket barcode from the confirmation email to receive a wristband at on-site check to enter the event.

How and when do I receive my wristband for Taos Vortex?

All purchasers will need to pick up wristbands at the gates during Check-in hours. Check-in hours are as follows: Friday 12PM-12AM, Saturday 12PM-12AM, Sunday 10AM-7PM. Please be sure to arrive during these hours to gain initial access to the park.

Is Vortex an all ages event?

Yes. Everyone under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Anyone 13 or older must purchase a full price pass. Children 3-12 qualify for low-price Child Passes. Children under 3 get into Taos Vortex for free.

What are add-ons and how do I get them?

Everyone attending Taos Vortex must purchase either a Single Day Pass, Weekend Camping Pass, or Weekend No Camping Pass. If you choose to camp and purchase a Weekend Camping Pass, you can add-on Glamping Passes, Camp Breakfast Passes, RV Camping Passes, Car Camping Passes, Car Loading and Unloading Passes, Parking Passes, and/or Theater Brunch Passes. If you choose either Camping or No Camping, you can add on a Big Vibe Pass (VIP) by day — or for the whole weekend — and/or Shuttle Passes. All add-on passes can be found in the pop-up when you click on a "Buy Passes" button. We also offer adventure add-ons, which are sold directly through the provider's websites linked on our "Experience Planning" page on TaosVortex.com. Please note that all add-ons are limited in quantity and might sell out quickly.

Is onsite camping included with my event pass?

Camping is available only if you purchase Weekend Camping pass. If you’d like to camp with your car, you’ll need to purchase a Car Camping Pass in addition to your Full Weekend Camping pass.

Will I be able to refill water onsite?

Yes.

What's the earliest I can set up my camp?

The earliest you can enter the Taos Vortex site to set up your camp and begin your weekend is 12PM Friday, Aug 16th.

What's the parking situation?

We provide a shuttle service to and from off-site parking at the Taos Rodeo grounds (located at 230 Camino de la Merced, Taos NM 87571). Once you purchase a Shuttle Pass, you can park at the Taos Rodeo grounds and ride our shuttle to Taos Vortex. You can also find parking on-street in Taos, or if you are camping, you can park on Taos Vortex grounds by purchasing a Parking Pass or Car Camping Pass.

How do I use the shuttle?

Purchase a shuttle pass before the event or at the gates during Check-In hours onsite! Park at the Taos Rodeo Grounds (located at 230 Camino de la Merced, Taos NM 87571) and ride the shuttle to a pick up/drop off point right across the street from the park’s main entrance. The shuttle will run continuously from 12-7PM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday & 9AM-1PM on Monday. Please be patient as the shuttle will keep running during these times. If you have any questions about timing, ask the Vortex staff at the gate!

Is there onsite parking if I don’t want to purchase a Parking Pass or Car Camping pass for my vehicle?

No.

Are all vehicle passes "per person" or "per vehicle"?

Per vehicle.

Is RV camping or car camping allowed at Kit Carson Park?

Yes, purchase a RV or Car Camping Pass. Don’t forget to purchase your Weekend Camping pass as well. Please note: RV and car camping space is limited!

What else should I know about RV passes?

All RVs will be placed in order of arrival and at the discretion of the RV placement team. We cannot accommodate self-selection during the arrival process. For best chance to neighbor with your friends, please stay in line together. All RVs have a limited amount of space alongside the RV that is considered your "personal space" which accommodates opening the awning for a cool social space between you and your neighbor. Small, un-staked tents may fit in this space if desired, but cars are unlikely to fit. There is no electricity or water hookups for RVs onsite. There is no sewage dumping for any RV upon exit of the event. Please respect the neighborhood vibes in and around the RV camp. Buyers can expect us to be in contact with to ask about RV size for placement and with additional information closer to the event.

Do I need an RV pass for my van?

No. A van or camper van can purchase a Car Camping Pass. A car with a trailer must purchase an RV Camping Pass. A 5th Wheel must purchase an RV Camping Pass.

I'm planning on camping with my friends, do they also need camping passes if they're sharing my campsite?

Yes, each individual who wants to camp must purchase a Weekend Camping pass. One campsite could be shared between multiple people, or one person could share multiple campsites if you’re lucky. Regardless, each individual needs a pass that allows them to camp.

Are attendees allowed to exit and re-enter?

All passholders including campers may exit and re-enter the event freely. Make sure to keep your wristband on for re-entry! Go enjoy Taos!

Are there any luxury or boutique camping options at Vortex?

We offer a Glamping Pass that provides for two Vortex inhabitants. You must purchase a Weekend Camping pass AND a Glamping Pass for each individual. Glampers receive: concierge check-in, a luxurious queen bed with linens, 2x Big Vibe passes, Welcome Provisions Package that includes snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, 1x Car Loading/Unloading Pass and Parking Pass Please note: additional guests are $150 per night ( 4 total guests max. per tent) and links for additional guests will be sent out after you purchase your Glamping pass. Can I volunteer and what are the perks?

At Taos Vortex, we provide work trade options. Apply to be a Worktrader on our Get Involved page HERE , wait for confirmation of your roles and shifts, and follow the directions to purchase a Worktrader Pass (which includes camping). Upon completion of your dedicated hours, we will refund your Pass. Helping out for 12 hours will score you all of your money back on your Worktrader Pass! If you dedicate 6 hours, you will score half back on your Worktrader Pass. We will refund deposits within a week after the event. Note that you must be 21 years or older to participate as a worktrader.

Are there children's prices for the event?

Yes. We sell passes for children between the ages of 3 and 12 years old. Buy them below. Children ages 3 and under get in for free!

Can I bring my art?

Is it OK to be insensitive and appropriate other cultures?

Meow Wolf recognizes the importance of respecting indigenous communities and their land, and acknowledge that Taos Vortex is on the occupied indigenous lands of the people of Taos Pueblo. We call for guests, vendors, and artists to respect all indigenous people and their respective cultures and to not participate in insensitive cultural appropriation.

I'm coming for the week and I'm camping— can I bring my own food?

Yes! There will also be food vendors from which you can purchase food.

I’m coming for a single day and not camping. Can I bring outside food and a cooler?

No. We have food vendors onsite for you to enjoy!

I did not get a Camping Pass, am I allowed to hang out with my friends in the camping area?

No, only those holding a Weekend Camping pass are allowed in the "Campers Only" area on the site map.

Are there showers onsite for the campers?

Yes! Each shower costs $5 (cash or card) and you will have 5 mins to shower. Showers are open Saturday and Sunday from 10AM-2PM & 4PM-8PM and Monday 8AM-12PM. Don’t forget your towel and biodegradable soap!

Will it be cold at night?

Yes, expect the high desert air to be cold at night.

Are pets welcome?

Only trained and certified service animals are allowed.

Can I blast my favorite Spotify playlist all night?

No. Quiet hours are from 12AM - 8AM.

Will open fires be allowed?

No open fires are permitted onsite. There's a burn ban in place and a $300 fine for open flames. This includes fire spinning. You are allowed to bring propane stoves for camping.

I have a disability. What are my ADA options?

Kit Carson Park is ADA compliant. There is designated ADA parking on-site and a designated ADA viewing area in front of the stage. Use the camping entrance/ car-only gate for ADA parking.

Can I bring a camp chair even if I'm just coming for the day and not camping?

Yes.

Will alcohol be sold at Taos Vortex?

Alcoholic beverages will be sold in the non-camping area.

What is your drug policy?

No illicit drugs are allowed at Taos Vortex.

What other items are prohibited?

Generators, glass bottles, flammable items, fireworks, animals or pets, weapons, illegal drugs, bicycles, and skateboards.

Is Taos Vortex a rain-or-shine event?

Yes. The show will go on regardless of rain!

Will refunds be available?

No.

Can I come to Meow Wolf's House of Eternal Return with my pass to Meow Wolf Taos Vortex?

Yes! If you've purchased a Weekend Pass with or without camping to Taos Vortex, we'll grant you complimentary access to Meow Wolf’s House of Eternal Return within August 15-19. We will email those that purchased Weekend passes with and without camping closer to the event with information on how to redeem your entry to the House of Eternal Return.

I bought a Weekend Pass without camping but I don't want to miss out on the fun and want to camp now, what do I do?

Click on "Passes" on this site and purchase a "Upgrade to Camping" pass. Add this pass to your "No Camping" pass in order to camp!

What are Taos Vortex's safe space policies?

Meow Wolf wants our experience to feel welcoming, inclusive, and physically safe. Everyone is Welcome / Harassment is Forbidden: Taos Vortex must be positive regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of attendees, venue staff, or event organizers in any form. If anyone engages in harassment, we retain the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to keep Taos Vortex a safe, welcoming, and friendly environment for all participants. This includes expelling the offender from the event with no refund. If you experience or witness harassment, or if someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it to Taos Vortex staff or security as soon as possible. Unacceptable Behaviors: Harassment includes, but is not limited to: Unwelcome sexual attention. Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following. Inappropriate physical contact. Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion. Participants asked to stop any inappropriate behavior will be expected to comply immediately. Intoxication is not an excuse. Getting Help: If you observe someone violating one of our policies, please speak to event staff or security as soon as you can. We will address the issue immediately. If you don’t feel confident coming to speak to us directly, please send us a DM on our Twitter (@MeowWolf) or Instagram (@Meow_Wolf); we will keep these messages confidential and monitor these throughout the event. Anything you tell us will be in confidence. If there’s something you want to bring to our attention after the event you can email us at feedback@taosvortex.com. We will be happy to help you contact security, law enforcement, support services, or provide other assistance to make you feel safe for the duration of the event. Neither Meow Wolf nor our contractors are exempt from this policy, so if there’s anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, please let us know: we will listen and act on it. How do I claim my Free entry to House of Eternal Return with my weekend pass?

All weekend passholders will receive an email with instructions on how to claim their free entry to House of Eternal Return!

ACCESSIBILITY ADA

Kit Carson Park is ADA compliant. There is designated ADA parking on-site; please show our security your credentials to enter through the Main Gate during Check-in hours and they will direct you to ADA parking close to the entrance. There is designated space for ADA viewing in front of both stages. If you are having trouble finding the space, please get in touch with Vortex security.

If camping, please show your ADA credentials at the Camping Entrance to enter in and unload your gear (you do not need an Unloading/Loading Pass). Once you unload, you will then drive out of the Camping Entrance and show your credentials to enter through the Main Gate during Check-in hours to park in the ADA Parking area.
